Sunday Morning Worship

High Street, Great Wakering, SS3 0HL

At United Methodist Church, Great Wakering, we hold regular Sunday worship at our Great Wakering site at 10.30am.  We welcome anyone to worship and also enjoy further fellowship over a cup of tea/coffee after the service.

Worship is conducted in a variety of ways, dependent upon who is leading the service.

Being traditional Methodists, we are very grateful for a well-maintained pipe organ which encourages hearty, sincere singing.  Our hymns/songs are now projected onto a screen, as are the readings from scripture, which are taken from the N.I.V but we are in the process of changing our hymn/song selection to incorporate those within ‘Singing the Faith.’  However, we are very happy to use new material, either for the children or those perhaps a little older.  From time to time we use solos or duets to enhance the worship and give more variety.

We welcome children of 3 years of age and upwards to our Sunday School.  After a short time altogether the children have their own dedicated time for fun learning activities.

Since becoming one church we alternate our services weekly between here and St Andrew's Road, Shoebury.  We usually hold parade services at our Whittingham Avenue site.  These services include the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from Great Wakering and Southchurch.
